Partnering with parents in discipleship

Our kids program is designed with your family in mind. Our conviction is that God has commissioned parents to play a unique discipling role in the lives of their children. For this reason, our goal is to come alongside parents and equip them in the discipleship process. We do this in many ways, but especially through teaching gospel-centered lessons that focus on the entire narrative of scripture. We also make a special effort to ensure that lessons taught in WHBC Kids Ministry translate to conversations and discipleship opportunities in the home.

Babies & Toddlers
Ages 0-2

Sundays at 9:30am & 10:45am

In the nursery, our primary goal is to keep your baby happy and safe. We have a short Bible lesson from Lifeway's Explore the Bible: Babies & Toddlers curriculum for the little ones during the worship hour and often play Christian music and read books to teach them about Jesus. Parents will get sent home with a paper to continue talking about what we learned at home!

Preschool
Ages 3-4

Sundays at 9:30am & 10:45am

Our preschool team uses Lifeway's Explore the Bible: Preschool curriculum during Sunday School and Worship Hour. They learn about Jesus through worship, games, crafts, a lesson, and activities. Kids are given a take home worksheet to help parents incorporate the scripture they have learned into discipleship in the home.

Elementary
K-5th Grade

Sundays at 9:30am & 10:45am
except for first Sunday of the month*

Our K-5 team uses Lifeway's Explore the Bible: Elementary curriculum during Sunday School and Worship Hour. In Sunday school, they dive deep into the Bible with a video, songs, activities, and memorization. During the worship hour, they join the adults for worship in the Auditorium, then come back for an age-appropriate Bible lesson, games, crafts, and missions moment.
*Full Family Sunday – We highly value intergenerational discipleship, so the first Sunday of each month, kids who are in Kindergarten and up join their families for the worship service at 10:45am. On these "Full Family Sundays," we have bags with kids activities available in the lobby to help them stay engaged.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

When you come to the kids check-in desk, you will be greeted warmly and asked some questions to get your kids into our check-in system. If you fill out this form ahead of time, it will speed up the process. Just let them know you pre-registered online. Once they're registered, you'll be given a sticker name tag for your kid and a pick-up tag with a corresponding number, so only you can check your child out with the sticker.

We have three age groups the kids are split into – ages 0-2 | ages 3-4 | K-5th grade. A volunteer can walk you to the appropriate classrooms to drop off your children. You will also pick them up from those classrooms after the service. Each classroom is staffed by trained and background-checked volunteers who love kids and Jesus. Each age is learning developmentally-appropriate lessons from the Bible, using the Explore the Bible curriculum by Lifeway. Every Sunday, your kid will learn gospel principles through worship, games, crafts, a lesson, and activities. Kids are given a take home worksheet to help parents incorporate the scripture they have learned into discipleship in the home.

One thing to note – we highly value intergenerational discipleship, so the first Sunday of each month, kids who are in Kindergarten and up join their families for the worship service. On these "Full Family Sundays," we have bags with kids activities available in the lobby to help them stay engaged.

If you have 6-12th grade students, our youth ministry meets Sunday mornings at 9:30am and Sunday nights from 5:30-7:15pm. The teenagers join their families in the worship service at 10:45am every Sunday!
